Building the Future with Energy Efficiency

Kansas City Power & Light provides incentives to builders who implement energy efficiency measures during the building stage of qualified new homes.

  • $800 toward energy efficient central cooling equipment (14 SEER or greater)
  • $400 torward insulation upgrades R42 Attic, R25 Floor or R19 Crawlspace
  • $200 toward an Energy Star-rated refrigerator
  • $100 toward Energy Star-rated lighting fixtures

Energy Efficient Central Cooling Equipment
Installed properly, high-efficient cooling systems can save up to 20 percent on heating and cooling costs.

Insulation Upgrades
More than 40 percent of the energy consumed in a tyical household goes to heating and cooling. Increased insulation reduces energy consumption, which in turn helps to lower utility bills.

Energy Star-rated Refrigerator
Energy Star refrigerators use at least 15 percent less energy than required by current federal standards and 40 percent less energy than conventional models sold in 2001

Energy Star-rated Lighting Fixtures
Energy Star lighting fixtures use one-fourth the energy of traditional lighting fixtures. In addition, replacement lights must be compact fluorescent lights, which use 66 to 75 percent less energy than a standard incandescent light bulb.
