Doing Business with KCP&L as a Supplier

WorkersWelcome to Kansas City Power & Light’s Supplier General Information web page! At KCP&L, we deeply value the contributions of our suppliers as we work to provide our customers with reliable, effective and efficient service. We approach the accomplishment of this objective with a commitment to a core set of values to which we hold both ourselves and our suppliers accountable. To those ends, we have a responsibility to continuously seek out and maintain the highest level of operational excellence in all of our procurement processes. Additionally, we are always working to provide our suppliers with the most up-to-date information and this website has been designed with that in mind.

Since our founding in 1882, the support of our suppliers has helped Kansas City Power & Light evolve into a full-service energy provider and resource. We are one of the Midwest's most affordable energy suppliers and serve over 500,000 customers in 24 western Missouri and eastern Kansas counties. In October, 2007, Kansas City Power & Light was named the recipient of the National Reliability Excellence Award at the 2007 ReliabilityOneTM awards. This award results from our continual efforts to serve customers as KCP&L’s absolute, primary objective. As a supplier or potential supplier, you are an integral part in helping us accomplish that objective.

We are continuously seeking ways to improve all aspects of our operations in order to ultimately serve our customers in the best way possible. We believe that accomplishing this goal requires that all parties involved exhibit and promote a winning culture that includes the highest ethical conduct in all of our business relationships (please review the ). A key component of our winning culture is a strong commitment to our region’s diverse supplier base (please review our Chairman’s letter detailing this commitment on our web page).

As KCP&L continues our pursuit of excellence in all areas of operations, we are always working diligently to improve our procurement processes while maintaining a center-led, integrated supply chain model. Our internal policies and mode of operation are designed to provide the appropriate balance of supplier interactions between our operating personnel on technical matters pertaining to design, engineering and/or operation and our supply chain personnel for commercial (pricing and contracting) discussions and final agreement negotiations.

Finally, if you are a current supplier, thank you for your hard work in helping us provide exceptional service to KCP&L’s customers. If you are not a current supplier, I encourage you to tell us about your organization and the products and services it provides by completing and submitting the form in order to be considered for supplying KCP&L in the future.

Best Regards,

Lora Cheatum
Vice President, KCP&L Administrative Services
