Blue River Glade

KCP&L has been a partner in the Blue River Glade restoration project for a number of years. Blue River glade lies in the heart of Kansas City, Mo., adjacent to Swope Park. Its restoration has been a very successful cooperative effort, bringing together public and private groups to accomplish the project's goal.

Blue River Glade is an 18-acre natural area that supports a number of rare animals, plants and geology not typically found in northern Missouri. The area is maintained using periodic prescribed burning to manage overgrowth of several plant species from threatening the glade. With the help of a wide range of community volunteers, the Blue River Glade has been cleared and restored to its natural beauty and is a fascinating place to visit to see native prairie grasses and a variety of animals.
