Energy Star New Homes

House under construction By building homes that earn the ENERGY STAR, your company can join more than 3,500 trendsetting builders that have already constructed over 750,000 ENERGY STAR qualified homes across the country. New homes earn the ENERGY STAR by meeting rigorous energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In 2006, 12% of all new housing starts nationally were ENERGY STAR qualified. In many areas, ENERGY STAR homes represent 20% or more of local home starts.

Installing energy-efficient technologies during new home construction is a smart way to distinguish the homes you build by their performance and quality, and lower homeowners' energy bills.

Builder Rebates
Builders who meet the eligibility requirements will receive $800 per home under KCP&L's ENERGY STAR New Homes Program. KCP&L will also pay HERS raters up to $750 for the inspections and HERS rating requirements for a Builder's home to achieve the ENERGY STAR label.
